Welcome to the footballpitch4dollar website where we aim to raise the profile of not having such a simple facility in the town. This site will also let you know about anything to do with football that is happening in Dollar.

The football pitch in Dollar was taken away from the town in 1994 and replaced with an inadequate civic centre within a year.

The Council had promised that they would build a new pitch with changing facilities soon after the centre was built.

How long is soon for the Council? ...............Soon for the Council is infact 15 years!

For these 15 long years the mosque type building has stood in the Market Park, used frequently at the start and when the people found that he building was not fit for purpose they stopped using it. The main use for it now is the library, polling days and the gala day.

Dollar now has a football club, Dollar Glen FC. They have 2 age groups, under 14s and an adult team. These footballers from the town have nowhere to play so have to travel to Coalsnaughton to play their games. There is also a Council ran Soccer Centre in Dollar every Tuesday night which has the biggest attendance of all the Soccer Centres which obviously brings in the most money!!

There is talk of the town getting a football pitch along with a cemetry when the new housing developement goes ahead down at Lovers Loan.This may be many years down the line with the economy the way it is.

We feel the Council in these 15 years have not done enough to replace the pitch and I ask them why are Dollar being sold short??!!!
